Not going to lie, a little bit bitter right now.
I was so supposed to have been at ComicCon this weekend. But stuck here instead. Which... sucks.
Neil Adams was going to be there! That's so amazing. And Brian Michael Bendis. And Chris Claremont. And Stuart Immonen. And Jim Lee.
And Ray Bradbury. Ray Bradbury?! The man is a legend and I missed it.
Also, Gerard Way was there and not going to lie about that either, he's hot.
Argh.

Joss Weadon signed on to direct The Avengers? Heck yes.
They really need to get more comic book nerds directing comic book movies. It pays off.
Now Earth to Weadon, please put the Wasp in this movie, thanks. That Black Widow can't be the only female. And Janet is classic.

The letter came. From the Council. That was a scary piece of mail to get. Just seeing it there, all sealed and formal looking - scary stuff, I'll tell you that.
But it was good news. They said yes. Approved. Whatever you want to call it.
Which means I get to be a vampire.
Ashley just has to talk to someone first to get some more information, but then...
It's freaky but it's the right thing. We're supposed to be identical. A pair. It's not right that I'm getting older and he's not.
Can breathe a bit easier now that the letter came. [end privacy]

Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour came out today - finally.
I devoured it as soon as I got to work. Amazing. But it makes me a bit sad that it's over. Still, it will be cool to see what O'Malley does after this.
And there's still the movie to look forward to. The trailer looks pretty epic.
And I'm sure no one knows what I'm talking about, but that's okay too.

Waiting is the hardest part. I think that was a song. But either way, it's the truth. Waiting sucks.
I wonder how long it will take the Council to make their decision. Part of me hopes a while because I don't want it to be 'no'. But part of me wants an answer right away. And it had better be 'yes'.
Every day that goes by, Ashley gets a little bit older than me. And I know a day, a month even, won't change how he looks, but I just don't like the thought of it.
It's a freaky thing to think about. Becoming a vampire. Ironic too, really, given all the vampire books I've read over the years and all the thoughts I've had about what it would be like to be one. But that was fantasy, and this is reality. [end privacy]

I still can't decide what I think about this.
So recently it was announced that Wonder Woman would be getting a new look. Stepping away from the classic singlet that she wore, and donning something a little more modern.
And in some ways, the new outfit makes sense. Pants are sort of important when you're fighting crime. She's not Lady Gaga. The jacket's a nice touch as well. In fact, on anyone new and upcoming, it would be a great costume.
But on Wonder Woman? Well, it's just not Wonder Woman. It will take some getting used to, at least.
( Picture under here )
Thoughts?

I'm so relieved that Ash agreed with me. I should have known he would. We're always on the same wavelength.
I just hope the Council agrees. It should be a good reason. We're twins. We're supposed to be the same. I don't want to get old while he stays young, it's not right.
Waiting is a pain.
Going to go work on my comic.

I found this picture, and I'm confused.
Is this a real problem? An epidemic of crow thievery? Another thing to worry about about old age?
Or is it anti-crow propaganda?

20 doesn't feel any different than 19.
Not that I really thought it would. But still.
At least we had cake.
And as I always seemed to do, I swear I spent twenty minutes in the washroom looking at my scar yesterday.

So this place is a little bit freaky, huh? I've been noticing that. Okay, that was kind of obvious from the start, but even more so lately.
I've been laying pretty low since classes let out. Well, I'm doing a couple summer classes - one on pencilling and inking, and the other on the history of the comic book. So as much like play as like school. Except the tests in the second one.
And I got a job at the comic book store (Rogue's Gallery). Which is pretty awesome. The other people who work there are cool and we sit around all day debating different things and reading new issues. And yeah, working too.
Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour, July 20th. And then the movie in August, which actually looks pretty freaking awesome.

It's May. That means that Ash and my birthday is coming up. Which has always been an exciting thing.
Except this year it's different. Because I'm getting older and he's not.
Well he is, I know that, but physically he's not. Not now, and not ever. And that... just... sucks.

Batman is the best superhero ever.
He really is the exact opposite of Superman (who, as I mentioned before, it one of the dullest superheroes ever). He's just a guy, who has made himself into a hero, to fight the own demons of his childhood.
The fact that he is just a man is one of the reasons he is so interesting. He has no super powers (unless you count being superrich as a power, and yes, that does help him). Rather he has trained himself for years, in highing, in focus, in intelligence and information gathering and psychology and the human condition. He has built himself up into a legend.
And he is hated as much as he is loved. Superman, he is mostly loved. But Batman is often feared. By the public. By the police (aside from Gordon and a few others).
And he holds onto his morals. His ethics. He will not kill, even when everyone around him thinks he should. Should he kill the Joker? I think most people in his life have thought 'yes' to this. Rid the world of such a menace once and for all.
But he holds true to what he believes. Because while killing the Joker might be the best for the world, that's one step over the line. One step into darkness that can never be taken back.
And Batman, as a character, lends himself to the most interesting Rogues Gallery of any superhero. He inspires such an incredible band of foes. From the bowels of Gotham City and from the highest towers they come, the darkness to Batman's already shadowed vigilante.
Batman also has some of the most interesting allies. The Robins. Catwoman, who has been more good than bad in recent years. The Batgirls. The Oracle. And of course, Gordon.
He keeps going on. Slogging through, even when all he gets is negativity. He doesn't get worshipped and praised in the way of many heroes. He toils. He does it because it's the right thing to do. Because someone has to do it. And because he can do it.
((PS. Ash, I sent Mom a card for Mother's Day and signed your name because I figured you'd forget))

I do not like Damien as Robin. Really, really dislike.
Dick as Batman I can handle. But Damien? No.
Bring back Tim. Sure, he deserves to go on his own after so long, but Tim was the best Robin of them all. Yes, better than Dick. There, I said it.
Dick was great, yes. But he needed to move on. As Robin, he had a purpose, but then he needed to be Nightwing. Tim could have worked as Robin for a longer time.
Ashley is snickering at how many times I wrote 'Dick'.
But speaking of Batman - July 20, 2012. Mark it on your calander, for the new Batman movie. No word on who the villian will be yet.

Superman really isn't all that interesting of a superhero. When I was little I thought he was pretty cool, because Superman is kind of ubiquitous, and he can fly and all that, but as I grew up, I realized he wasn't so interesting.
The reason being, he can do anything. Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locamotive, he can fly, he has x-ray vision, heat vision, super breath, invulnerability, regeneration.... so when it comes down to it, is it really any surprise that he saves the day every time? No. Even when he died, he came back (Although The Death of Superman was one of the more interesting of his story arcs).
His backstory is interesting. Sent off from a dying planet, the last surviving member of the species (well, save for his cousin, Supergirl). But once he hits Earth, he's kind of boring. He can do anything, and saves the day. It's a wonder people in Metropolis get worried at all, all they have to do is shout out Supes name and he'll be there. Held at gun point? Falling from a building? (I'm looking at you, Lois Lane)? No problem, he'll be there. Even if he's across country at a JLA meeting.
Also, I get suspension of disbelief and all that, I do. I'm studying comic books. But he doesn't even wear a domino mask or anything. Nothing! Takes off glasses, slicks back his hair and no one notices?
This is why the only Superman comics I buy are the Superman/Batman issues. His series, I just borrow to flip through.

University is so much better than high school.
I don't have to many exams, because for most of my classes we submit out portfolio for the final mark. I do have an exam in my Art History class and my Lit class, though.
One of our assignments in one of my classes was to creatre a superhero - both the personality and written background as well as to design their appearance, both in civilian form and in costumed form.
I finished mine up yesterday. That was pretty fun. Stuff like that always makes me think of what superpower I'd want to have.
Flying would be pretty cool. Or being able to freeze stuff.
Or being able to walk through walls.

Things I have learned about vampires:
1. They are real.
2. They don't sparkle. Thank God. That would be awful.
3. They need blood. A lot of blood, is Ashley is any evidence.
4. They can go out in the daytime, because that crazy man was out in the afternoon. But Ashley can't seem to. So maybe only some can? Or they have a special sunscreen? Or maybe they just need practice?
5. These bracelets are supposed to keep them from biting, but apparently that doesn't always work.
